Beauty Sleeping started out as a blog about beauty products and cosmetics. I was going to go through my ridiculously massive stash of beauty products and review one item every day. I did this for a good few posts and then noticed something. Not only was no one really reading my reviews but I wasn’t having fun because I felt compelled to follow my self-inflicted, creativity stifling schedule. So screw that. I decided to start writing about my life. The daily stuff that makes me crazy, makes me laugh, or makes me cry. Sometimes all three at the same time.
My love of cosmetics has taken a backseat to my love of all things free and cheap; coupons, contests, and good deals. My life is pretty nutty (actually a whole lot crazier with the addition of a Great Dane, a Timneh African Grey parrot, 2 goats, and a handful of chickens since this blog started) and I’ll be writing about great products, good deals, and my goofy family zoo with a healthy dose of sustainable living mumbo-jumbo thrown in for good measure.
Who am I as a person, you ask? Well you probably didn’t ask but since you’re reading this I’m going to guess that either you really care or you’re so bored that you might read to the end. I’m an ordinary stay at home mom (read as sleep deprived, highly caffeinated, and in need of a day off) with three young children. I’m a disabled veteran, military spouse, animal lover, avid couponer, and student of self-sustained living.
I try to make my posts entertaining and I write the same way I speak–with a mix of (I hope) humor, sarcasm, and (when around other adult types) questionable language. I hope you enjoy my blog, and I’m sorry it isn’t one of those funny, witty, sharp sort of blogs that everyone else seems to be able to write. Hopefully you’ll forgive me for my ordinariness and stick around anyways. If you have any questions about anything at all, please ask away. I’d be more than happy to answer.
